Sid and Paul Attard Visit The Malta Equidrome
Earlier today Sid Attard and his son Paul visited the Malta Equidrome. Sid is a Maltese Canada based thoroughbred horse trainer who together with his family had emigrated from Malta in the 1960s. It had been 14 years since his last visit to the island and he was impressed how much things had changed.
The Attards have led very successful careers in North America. Based at Toronto’s Woodbine racetrack, Sid now boasts over 2000 career wins and has led the all trainers wins classification four times. In February 2011 he was also inducted in the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame.
Accompanying him was his son Paul who is now a horse dentist apart from having the job of checking horse’s identities which is nowadays done through microchipping but which previously in North America was done with tattoos.
Just for reference, Sid’s younger brother is Larry Attard who was one of the top jockeys in Canada and a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and today runs a training complex together with Sid.
