Egerie du Puy Trashes Prix de Cabourg Record
10-year old mare owned by Kevin Borg was in grand form on Sunday evening as she managed to take her first local victory in the Prix de Cabourg final for Silver category timed at an astounding 1’12″8/km over 2140m. This meant that not only did she register her personal best beating her record of 1’13″4 but also pulverising the previous race record of 1’14″6 registered in the Summer of 2019.
The mare had made her debut with Paul Galea during the heats of this championship finishing in 3rd place whilst in the semi final she was a close 2nd both times conceeding to Diamant du Ruel who was starting as favourite in this final being the only horse to have won these two legs. This time the tables were turned as it was Egerie du Puy who dominated right from the start dictating a fast pace with Diamant du Ruel placing himself right behind her with 1000m to the finish. The mare though responded once again in the last 500m taking a nice comfortable victory.
Presentation of the trophies was led by Ms Marianne Simonnot from the Trotteur Francais International Department who was in Malta for the occasion accompanied by Ms Emmanuelle Morvillers.
