Defi Orageux Wins Assikura Gold Championship Final

Driven by Rodney Gatt 11-year old French gelding Defi Orageux took the 15th edition of the Assikura Championship for Gold Category horses. The favourite horse who had won one of the semi finals drew number 12 which saw him take a slow start at the back of the field with champion driver Rodney Gatt deciding to go in the inner lane. Entering the final straight he must have been second guessing his decision as with power in his hands he appeared to be blocked behind the front runners but he just found enough space to break clear and provide the necessary sprint to pass first past the finishing post.

Presentation of the trophy to winning owners Anthony and Rita Gerada was done by Ms Lucienne Cini Chief Operations Officer at Assikura Insurance Brokers.
