Akela Play Wins ALDB Sette Giugno Cup

7-year old Italian trotter Akela Play became the 12th horse to win the prestigious Sette Giugno Cup which this year had the financial support of ALDB & Associates.

Owned by Alessio and Jean Paul Vella, this horse made his first local start on 13th December 2022 with a victory in the Gold category. After winning this year’s Assikura Gold Championship he was promoted to the Premier category and immediately continued to show his potential when he won one of the BOV Tazza l-Kbira Heats.

Yesterday he saw the return of Clint Vassallo on the sulky thus giving him the 2nd victory of this trophy after he had won the 1st edition way back in 2011. The victory was timed at an average 1’14″2/km.

This was his 6th victory from 12 starts five of them during this year.
