Tazza San Frangisk Final
The Tazza San Frangisk final for Copper category horses was raced on Sunday 30th April giving all those present a thrilling finish as favourite Galeo du Portugal stormed past the finish line taking his 3rd consecutive and 5th victory of the year. Driver Kirsten Axisa said that today the horse had really proven his worth as after a slight difficulty during the start he found himself at the back of the field. In a stupendous last lap Galeo du Portugal had to race on the outside in order to make up for lost ground managing to clock 1’16″3/km making this the best time registered so far in this competition final. It was also interesting to note that the tradition continued as since its inception in 2014 this final has always been won by a different driver.
As has been customary the shield and trophy to the winner, in this case Family Axisa, were presented by Fr. Mario Attard OFM of the Franciscan Capuchins in the presence of Mr Karl Debono on behalf of the Malta Racing Club and Malta Equidrome’s CEO Dr Matthew Brincat.
