Laradja Vrijthout Equalizes 1640m Record in Phone Refix Premier Plus Race

The series of Phone Refix Premier Plus races continued on Friday evening this time over the 1640m distance. Only 9 horses eventually took the start and as expected, even though having the furthest number on the outside, the lead was taken by total favourite Laradja Vrijthout setting a high tempo pace that eventually meant he equalled the local record over the short distance when he averaged 1’11″8/km. Driven as usual by Marco Refalo he was always closely followed by Rally Inge and Jonathan Farrugia, another horse and driver hailing from Gozo thus giving a nice finish up the straight but not enough to snatch the victory from the horse that led from the start.

This was Laradja Vrijthout’s second victory in Malta from 5 starts.

A token of the occasion was presented to the horse’s owners by Mr Charles Zammit on behalf of Phone Refix.
